We survived Christmas.

Yep. That pretty much sums up Christmas.

We survived.

Everyone was feeling better. Bob survived the worst pink eye of his life. We ended up in the ER with him about a week before Christmas because the doctor said he had an "eye emergency". Luckily, he didn't suffer from any permanent eye damage and he is back to normal.

I hosted Christmas Eve at our house this again this year. I made a whole slew of tasty appetizers for everyone to much on. Other than that, no frills, no bells and whistles. My parents, Bob's parents, my aunt and uncle and my grandpa came over. My parents spent the night with us, as has become tradition. They set up the air mattress on the living room floor and got to be with us Christmas morning when we opened presents. We may or may not have had a bit too much wine and beer before we went to bed... But we always have fun!

Bob's parents really disappointed us this year. They always come over in the morning to see the kids open presents, but this year they told us they weren't. And they never really gave us a reason why. Bob's sisters were also supposed to come into town and we were supposed to have this epic Christmas day, but they both cancelled. So, it was just our little family with his parents on Christmas afternoon. Peggy did make a 6 lb prime rib, which was a sight to behold. And she is flat out the best hostess ever. Her house was absolutely gorgeous!!

Henry did really well considering the craziness. He got all kinds of sensory toys that he LOVES. We are trying a new white noise machine instead of the box fan in his room at night. He got lots and lots of trucks to push around the house, and a sit n spin. He can't really do the sit n spin yet, so we are still using his spin board from the OT for now.

Viv got everything she wanted and then some. She was very tolerant of Henry, which is unusual, but a Christmas blessing for us all!

After all the festivities were over, Henry would NOT go to sleep last night. He was up at least thirteen times. After that point, I lost count. I finally dozed off around 3:30, and he fell sound asleep around 4 am and then slept until 9 am. He wouldn't go back down for his nap today either. He finally conked out at 3. I had to wake him up at 6 so he would hopefully sleep tonight. As of right now, bob has him in our bedroom and is trying to get him to sleep. I'm at my wits end tonight and needed a break. Thank you Bob!

It's amazing how much he needs his schedule. If it's interrupted at ALL, we pay dearly for it the next week or so. He has been super crabby and irritable. I've tried all his OT tricks today and nothing is helping. He just needs his schedule!!

That said, I can't wait to get us all back on our regular schedules. I know I probably sound like a cranky pants, but I cannot wait to take down our Christmas decorations! This Christmas season has been really rough, and I am REALLY looking forward to 2013. I keep telling Bob that 2013 is OUR YEAR.

Only 5 more days to find out!
