Henry started walking a couple of days after Christmas! We couldn't
believe it! I was making dinner and all of a sudden I just saw him
walking down the hallway towards me. He walked all the way into the
kitchen with the biggest smile on his face. He knew he could do it!
His physical therapist, Cathie, was so proud
of him. He will continue PT to help with coordination and balance. We
are finding that after awhile of running around, he starts to get really
wobbly and off balance. He has so. many. bruises. from falling onto
everything. If people didn't know him and his situation, they'd probably
think he was abused! gasp! BUT if we use his spin board when he starts
to get really off balance, he gets back on track. It stabilizes him
somehow and fixes his equilibrium. It is the weirdest thing ever to see
in action, but we're just glad it works. We spin him 10 times to the
right, stop and put pressure on his shoulders, and then spin 10 times to
the left, stop and put pressure on his shoulders. That's followed by
his joint compressions, and voila! He's like a whole new, balanced, kid.
